Let’s talk about skin ingredients…. Salicylic Acid. If you are struggling with acne, excess oil production and stubborn blackheads, this is the skincare ingredient for you.
You may have seen or heard of this ingredient in many skincare products. This ingredient is best known for its exfoliating and bacteria fighting powers. Salicylic acid is a BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid) meaning it is oil soluble so it can penetrate deep into the pores which is why it one of acne’s biggest enemies.
Main benefits of Salycilic Acid
Salicylic acid is your BFF to keeping your pores clear and deeply cleansed to:
- Fight acne
- Remove dead skin cells
- Decrease oil secretion
- Reduce inflammation and redness
Once it penetrates the skin salicylic acid dissolves skin debris that clogs pores, it also acts as an anti inflammatory which in turn helps to calm red inflamed pimples and pustules and helps them clear faster by directly dissolving the keratin plugs and by regulating the skin cells.

It is also particularly effective on keratosis pilaris also known as chicken skin, it is a great option for reducing those little bumps that can appear on the top of the arms and on the top of the legs.
When you start incorporating salicylic acid into your skincare routine it is important it is prescribed and used correctly as it is a strong active ingredient, if used incorrectly it has the ability to make the skin dry as it is removing oil from the skin.
It is important it is used with a balanced skincare routine to ensure the skin keeps hydrated and nourished.
