Spring cleaning is not just for the home. Take this change of seasons to ease into updating your skincare regimen and welcome the blossoming season with healthy, radiant skin.
Skincare products and regimens need to adjust to the change of seasons, with the cold months ending (and where we focussed on hydrating and revitalising dull, lacklustre skin with peels), this season, we want to spring clean our skincare products and help our skin transition to warmer temperatures.
Spring clean your skincare stash
Take this time to take a look at what you have in stock. Throw away any product that are more than six months old and top up with fresh ones. This will ensure your skin stays healthy and the active ingredients in your skincare remain potent. Refresh with a cleanser like the Ormedic Balancing Gel Cleanser to help your skin gently transition into the new season. It’s made of organic chamomile, green tea and balances skin with essential nutrients.
Also, no matter how much we took care of our skin in winter, it would’ve still taken a toll. To help with further nourishing and protecting skin, the Vital C Hydrating Anti-ageing Serum will be an indispensable addition for spring. Since it is packed with vitamin C, this will aid in supporting and improving collagen-and-elastin-deprived skin by softening fine lines and wrinkles. It is the perfect antioxidant boost needed at this time too, protecting the skin from environmental damage that can cause dark spots and blemishes.

Clean your makeup brushes and skincare tools
Spring cleaning also means cleaning your makeup sponges and brushes, and other skincare tools. Acne loves nothing more than dirty skincare tools that breed bacteria and clog up pores! For your brushes and sponges, you can lather them up with a dishwashing soap and squeeze out all the makeup or product residue before rinsing with warm water. On the other hand, use your facial cleanser for your skincare tools to clean them. Then lay them flat on a towel to air dry.
Moisturiser revamp
You needed the heavy duty stuff for winter, but now, you can swap that out for a lighter one for spring and shield your skin from dryness. Thick creams have a tendency to leave your skin feeling greasy. Using a water-based or gel formula will allow the product to absorb more quickly. But don’t shelve your cream just yet. You can still use it for areas like your neck or body parts that need extra hydrating TLC. How much moisturiser do you need? Temple Skin Experts advise that the size of an almond will do for your face.
Up your SPF game
In winter, you might have used a cream or moisturiser with added SPF. This time, think of using a separate and higher SPF product compared to last season. Try the Prevention+ Daily Matte Moisturiser SPF 30. We love it because it soaks up skin surface oils and it can double as your makeup primer for a matte, smooth finish.

Exfoliate
Gently rub away the dullness and dryness of winter skin with an exfoliator. Not only will this brighten your skin, it will also help minimise acne breakouts by keeping pores clean and polished. Our must-have is the Ormedic Balancing Gel Polisher because it is gentle enough for daily use, but strong enough to give you results.
Safely exfoliate at home by gently but firmly rubbing the product with your fingers in a circular motion for about 30 seconds. Then, rinse with lukewarm water. You may use a soft sponge or brush, but take care not to damage your skin.
If you feel like your skin needs a bit more exfoliation, book a consult with our Skin Experts where you may consider chemical peels or professional facials.
Cool down with a Crystal Roller
Yes, we love basking in the warm, sunny weather (with a hat and SPF protection!), but if you find yourself too hot at night, a Rose Quartz Crystal is our first choice to cool down. Rose quartz stays cool naturally, but for an added refreshing boost, you can keep your roller in the fridge before using. Aside from feeling relaxation, using a rose quartz roller also stimulates blood circulation and lymphatic drainage, whilst reducing facial puffiness.
