Temple Skincare & Spa Wins Salon of the Year and two other awards in this year’s PBS Awards Virtual Ceremony.
16 August 2021 — Temple Skincare & Spa wins Salon of The Year, Retail Therapist of the Year (Laura Browne) and Best Client Skin Transformation in this year’s Pro Beauty Solutions Awards. “Congratulations to you and your incredible team Rene. We feel so lucky and grateful to work with such dedicated therapists and inspiring business owners! You are such a well deserved winner and we can’t wait to see what you and your team can achieve in the years to come,” states Lisa Williams, PBS Managing Director.
She adds that, “When it comes to choosing a winner, we look at several things including sales & sales growth, team passion for our brands, dedication to training, and finally innovation with not only surviving but thriving and growing in a pandemic was also a defining factor. Rene, owner of The Temple Skincare & Spa has created a space of trust for skin, body, and soul, where advanced skin treatments meet holistic wellness…A perfect unique blend of luxury day spa with cutting edge medi-spa based modalities.”
The awards are intended to unite the industry too aside from celebrating exemplary partner salons, spas and clinics. This year, it comes during an extended pandemic lockdown in NSW, Australia. This has all but crippled the industry, with many salons and salon-owners making hard sacrifices to keep afloat.

Salon of the Year
For Rene, she says that as a team, they had to make innovations, leaning towards providing At-Home Facial Kits and online Skin Consultations. The kits address a variety of skin concerns like “Maskne” (acne and irritation caused by friction in wearing face masks), breakouts, bright and glowing skin, anti-ageing and hydration. Each kit comes with its own guide and tips to guarantee optimum results on the skin. Through this, they have kept their clients happy with signature treatments that they can now have, safe in their own homes. What is key is their commitment to ensuring a holistic approach to skin transformations.
Rene says, “Our clients trust in the consistency of their experience, they trust in our expertise, because we value education and they trust in our honesty & integrity because we deliver on our promises….
“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you thank you Matt and Lisa, Denise and the entire PBS team for being so amazing to work alongside. I thank you for your appreciation and your support. We are so grateful to be awarded your PBS Salon of the Year, Best Retail Therapist and the Skin Transformation winner. I have no words except Thank You!”
Rene adds that humour and ensuring that staying connected with clients is key. Once lockdown started, the Temple Team began calling each of their clients individually for “Skin and Wellness Checks” to see to their skincare needs and to send them a virtual hug while in isolation. They made sure that each client got their skincare supplies topped up and delivered safely (and contactless) via their #CoronaCourier (Rene’s husband, Justin Herald). They remain contactable anytime for their clients even through lockdown.
Before this, Temple regularly hosted events in spa, inviting clients and others to try out their medi-spa treatments and skincare offerings. Being industry leaders when it comes to events, they constantly create surprising and fun occasions, presenting something different each time. In the face of Covid-19, the Temple Skincare team continued their commitment to their clients through isolation by hosting Virtual Skin Schools. These have not only been great for both their team and their client’s mental health, but further strengthened their client’s loyalty with interactive and educational services.
Recently, they conducted a “Beauty and Bubbles Skin School for Adults” via zoom conference — a fun, interactive and educational event where Rene and General Manager, Lucille Ferreira guided participants on what ingredients are best for their skin, how to use skincare correctly, and how to get an extra kick in results at home. Along with the event, each attendee received a home facial kit with a mini bottle of Prosecco. They are now offering the virtual event to groups such as their corporate clients as a teambuilding facial party to re-connect with their work-from-home teams.
Temple is also known for always adding a personal touch and in making their clients feel special. An example of this is their incentive and reward programs. With their Emerald and Diamond Reward Programs, clients receive product and treatment discounts, freebies, gifts and special promotions as part of their loyalty rewards.

Education and training is part of the work culture for therapists in Temple. They focus on post-graduate learning geared towards empowering each of them to grow their careers. Even during lockdown, the team has kept busy too with virtual training sessions, knowing that this will strengthen their expertise in showing their clients incredible results when they reopen. Each one shares in the passion for seeing beautiful outcomes, guided by Rene and their expert skills. Temple Therapists have a minimum of 7-10 years experience in the beauty industry. This they share by writing custom skincare plans to meet their clients’ skin goals and desires. Known as their Temple Family, their clients are more than happy to make their appreciation known. As of today, Temple Skincare & Spa has a 5-star rating in both Google and Facebook.
“I am grateful to my team, because without them, I’m not a one-man-band, I am only as strong as my team is. They walk up to work every day, giving a hundred percent to their team,” Rene says.
Best Skin Transformation
When Anna had her first Digital Skin Diagnostic at Temple Skincare, it was noted that she had underlying redness, caused by inflammation. Her skin also showed signs of dehydration, and dead skin accumulation, which all contributed to the dull appearance that bothered her. In addition, Anna’s skin showed a lack of tone due to slackening collagen and had a red blotchy appearance due to product sensitivity and pH imbalances.
The treatment plan involved strengthening the skin with corrective homecare, followed by regenerating the skin with a sequence of skin needling and LED light therapy. Her Temple Therapist performed a skin needling session once every month, followed by LED light sessions for healing and regeneration.

Within 3 weeks of starting the Image Homecare Routine, Anna’s skin revealed a healthy glow which continued to improve, revealing the incredible results Anna has achieved to date. Some notable improvements include refined skin texture, reduced redness, diminished lines, and wrinkle depth, skin firming, improved tone, and firmness.
“I did not go to Temple Skincare expecting miracles, but that’s what I got. I thought maybe a change in skincare routine would revitalise my skin, however, my therapist explained that the redness and sensitivity were due to using harsh products, while I thought the products were cleansing my skin the way they should. She also explained that I need to wake up the collagen in my skin with a course of skin needling and then maintain the results with regular visits after that to enjoy some of the relaxing facials with anti-ageing benefits. I love my new skin and keep seeing improvements even at my tender age. Thank you for the great advice and support,” Anna says.

Giving back to the industry
PBS has also recognised this in awarding Temple Salon of the Year, saying “Another area they excel in is their commitment to clients, priding themselves on having a culture of generosity and a saying of ‘to give and to receive’ which is why gratitude and giving back to not only the team members but also their clients is something they regularly focus on.”
On top of this, Rene together with husband Justin, actively give back to the industry by mentoring fellow small business-owners needing support during the pandemic. They offer a sympathetic ear, and much-needed support during the Sydney lockdown.
More than just skincare
Temple, as it seems, is more than just a place for facials, massages and skincare. In getting to know Rene, Laura and all the other Temple Therapists, it is evident that they are passionate about what they do. The accolades they got today may be just another three for this already multi-awarded spa. For their clients and their community, these are so well deserved — not only for the skin transformations that thy enjoy after a treatment, but also for the genuine care and kindness that they uniquely experience at Temple Skincare & Spa.
